Donovan's first week has been great. We were fortunate to have family here nearly the entire time. Donovan spent most of his time in someone's arms and Nicholas was never lonely. So far, Donovan has been a great sleeper and a great nurser. He hasn't attempted much more than that...
Nicholas has also been a great big brother. He really seems to like Donovan and does his best to be a "model" big brother. This morning, he helped me find baby Donovan a diaper and wipes and watched carefully as I changed him. Nicholas loves it when I bring baby Donovan into his room, especially when it is naptime or nighttime. Although Nicholas' schedule is a bit disrupted (he's having a really hard time falling asleep at naptime or nighttime) and he has been practicing some not so good behaviors (like drooling milk onto the furniture), he seems to be adjusting quite well to Donovan's arrival.
Donovan ~ 3 days old.

Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Donovan took Nicholas to get pumpkins for the family. According to Nicholas, most of them were "too huge".

But, this one was just perfect. He also found a tiny pumpkin for baby Donovan (about the size of a small orange).

Back at home, Nicholas had lots of fun playing...

...and reading books. Grandpa Van Citters gave him a special book about being a big brother. We've been reading it over and over and over...
...and eating good food. Like his daddy, he won't touch a lobster. Can you tell which plate belongs to Doug?
Uncle Pete and Aunt Kathleen came to visit us a few hours after Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Donovan left to drive back to Wisconsin. They spent much of the weekend with us. Nicholas loved playing with them. We took a short walk up to the top of Balch Hill (right behind our house). The colors are almost at their peak.
Donovan had his second follow-up appointment this afternoon. We had one Thursday (two days after he was born) and his weight had dropped from 9 pounds 1 ounce to 8 pounds 7 ounces. Apparently that was a bit more weight loss than they like to see so we had another appointment today. He is now weighing in at a whopping 9 pounds 7 ounces (a full pound gain in just 4 days)!!! No more weight concerns at this point...
