We hope you all had a wonderful Halloween!
As the kids get older, they have become more and more excited for Halloween. The boys are now old enough to carve (most) of their own pumpkins, and Lily is a good pumpkin seed scooper.
Lily, Nicholas, and Donovan
Donovan's pumpkin is filled with extra "details" (aka knife cuts that run through all parts of the pumpkin). In fact, he was so excited to carve his pumpkin that he cut holes in the pumpkin about a week before Halloween - making his pumpkin partially rotten prior to carving.
I'm not sure what Lily found in her pumpkin, but I'm guessing it was slimy!
Nicholas decided to make his jack-o-lantern vomit pumpkin seeds...
The kids with their finished products (Lily's is the biggest, Donovan's is the medium pumpkin, and Nicholas chose the smallest pumpkin).
Doug's classic pumpkin - with a new twist. Nicholas recommended that Doug add an eyeball that was hanging out of its socket.
Each of the kids had Halloween activities at school. While Donovan's class didn't dress up, they had face-painting, special Halloween headbands, and lots of other fun classroom activities.
Nicholas' class has been working on Halloween-themed art projects (here's his Frankenstein), has been singing Halloween songs in music class, and participated in a kindergarten through second-grade Halloween parade throughout the elementary school.
Lily wore her alternate Halloween outfit to pre-school. Her class had Halloween treats, paraded into town where they had treats (muffins and apple cider) at Lou's Bakery, and then ran around on the Dartmouth green.
Finally, when Doug and the kids returned home, we all went to a Halloween party at the boys' best friends' house. After dinner, the 20+ kids at the party raced throughout the neighborhood collecting candy. We finished the night by going to a "haunted house" that is decorated with a pirate theme (based on the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean"). Every few days for the past month the kids and I have been walking past the house to see what new decorations were added... so, it was very fun for them to see it all lit up.
