Happy New Year! I haven't added any pictures in a while, so here are a few from the past month.
We started out the month by getting a Christmas tree. The kids are now quite interested in finding the "perfect tree" (Doug has been wearing off on them) and this is the first year that we haven't had to carry at least one of the kids for most of the search!

They are also now big enough to help with a LOT of the decorating.
After our first night of decorating, the lower 1/2 of the tree was
solidly filled. The bare nature of the upper half reminded me of some of
the tall Christmas trees that Mom and Dad have had in the past.

Soon after we got our tree we had a good snow storm - which was followed by an ice storm - and recently followed by two more snow storms. The kids have really been enjoying playing in the snow. We have sledding trails, snowshoe trails, and downhill ski tracks through the yard. We also have an awesome snow fort that should last for most of the winter.

Doug celebrated his 37th birthday in mid-December. He didn't get a fancy cake like the kids. Instead, I made him an angel food cake with the most delicious lemon glaze!

We had to relight the candles to give Doug a chance to blow them out.
The kids made Doug some great birthday cards - and Nicholas wrote him a multi-page story with illustrations.
