We spent the first week of August in Wisconsin visiting the Dums family. We had great weather (in what has otherwise been a rainy and cold Wisconsin summer) and had a wonderful time playing with everyone!

Lily, Donovan, Nicholas, and Doug - in front of the metal dinosaur. This place had lots of really cool sculptures that were welded together out of scrap metal.
Chris was home with us for the first weekend and we took all of the kids canoeing down the Namekagon River.

We took two boating trips to Lake Superior. The first was a fishing trip
where we caught a bunch of small bluegills and perch - and one
bullhead.

The most "exciting" part of our trip was when I turned around and noticed that Nicholas no longer had the fishing rod he was using (a small rod that Chris was given when he was a little boy). It turned out that the rod had accidentally dropped into the lake and Nicholas was too nervous to tell us about it. So, we got to work looking for it. Dad dove in multiple times to try to locate it. Chris hooked up a different rod with a treble hook and fortunately caught the rod/line (and a bullhead)!

Our trips to Wisconsin are always full of "parties" and fun times together. Mom and Dad hosted the larger Dums family at their house over the weekend, Grandpa took all of us out to dinner at the Ranch Supper Club, Donovan and Sarah invited us over for a late night checking out all of the progress that they have made on their home, Sarah's parents invited us out to to their home to play in the lake and visit their puppies (the cutest golden retriever puppies ever), and Ray and Malu had a great campfire, dessert, and firework party. I don't have as many pictures as I would like, but those below capture some of the fun.

In addition to our fishing trip on Lake Superior, we also took a ride
over to Long Island. The island was deserted of people, and it was as
beautiful as always.
We completed our trip with a trip to the "beauty parlor" where Lily got
her first big-girl hair cut. She was so relaxed that we think she fell
asleep part way through.
On our final night in Wisconsin we lit off several of the floating
lanterns that Chris had brought for the kids. The first one floated VERY
high and we lost sight of it about a mile or so north of us (we're
pretty certain that the flame had extinguished before it allowed the
lantern to descend). We attached the next lanterns to a fishing line and
kept them nearby!
We had a great trip! As usual, it was much too short. For more pictures, click on this link or see the slideshow below.
