End of Summer Fishing

Nicholas loves to fish. We've spent some time down at Storr's Pond with worms and the trusty Scooby Doo fishing pole. Nicholas is improving his reeling skills, but as you can see, he has some other critical skills down pat. These include wearing a goofy hat, sitting on a bucket, and uncontrolled smiles when a fish is finally landed (regardless of size).

This fish is a little tired, but not by our doing. As Nicholas was bringing it ashore, a 12 inch bass actually ate this perch whole. The bass never got the hook in its mouth, but it took off with the perch. The drag on the Scooby Doo pole was no match for the bigger fish, so Aricca had to take over. Eventually the bass got tired of fighting for the perch, so he spit it out. The perch (as best we can tell) is happily swimming around the pond again.

We celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary with Nicholas in Burlington, VT. Nicholas was perfectly behaved for our full two-hour meal. You can tell that he's pretty tired in this picture. We were pushing our luck with such a late bedtime.

Happy Anniversary, Doug and Arrica!! Can you believe it's been 5 years? Ours is next year and we cannot believe it. Jason and I still remember your wedding, and the entire trip to be a part of it, with great fondness! Here's to many more happy years!

(And here's to blogs and facebook for keeping us in touch!)
