VINS and Trains

Our big news is that Donovan has learned (and decided) to walk. He's walking everywhere, and loves it... : )

We've found lots of fun things for the kids to do in the past couple of weekends. Yesterday we went to VINS (the raptor rehabilitation facility near us). The boys are both getting big enough to really enjoy the educational components of the facility... VINS trails also connect with the Quechee Gorge, so we walked down to the dam and had lunch there.

Nicholas learning the purpose of different types of bird feet (loon, owl, and turkey). We also compared him to different birds and found that he has the wingspan of a Peregrine Falcon.

Donovan checking out the different bird wings.

Last weekend was "Glory Days" at the White River Junction train station. We were there to see the Amtrak come and go, watch the White River Flyer head north, and see some other cool trains.

I never realized that diesel locomotive engines were so huge...

This is the railroad president's private car. It has several bedrooms, a dining room, kitchen, etc. and is really beautiful inside. Apparently they still use it for entertaining railway guests.
