This weekend was more eventful than we had planned. We got a few inches of snow on Friday night. So, we loaded the kids and the sleds up and went to our local ski trails. While the sledding was very fun, the snow hid the thick ice that was underneath it. And, in an effort to chase after Donovan, Doug slipped on the ice and landed himself in the emergency room for a very painful shoulder. Fortunately he didn't break anything and he is doing much, much better today.
Fortunately, I left the kids warm clothes on and we played on a bit of snow near the emergency room entrance. We made lots of little snowmen, took Lily for sled rides, got some special treats from the hospital deli, and generally had a pretty fun afternoon (despite Doug's limited mobility).

On Sunday, we headed to the Plum Island beach in Massachusetts for a relaxed day. Our first stop was to pick up sandwiches to take to the beach. And, our second stop was the Newburyport emergency room. Nicholas was running through the sandwich shop, tripped, flew through the air, and landed with his forehead on a restaurant benchseat. After a lot of blood and screaming, he was a "perfect" ER patient - probably due in part to Nana and Bapa having just given him a new Lego to create. He's a little black and blue, but is otherwise doing great.
Nicholas - All fixed up. He got superglued back together at the ER. They treated him very well, and even gave him a small teddybear, a popsicle, a dinosaur tattoo, and some dinosaur tape.
