Donovan and his friend Sarah joined the boys and me on our trip from Wisconsin to Colorado. Doug met us at the Denver airport on Thursday, and Mom, Dad, and Chris joined us in Denver on Saturday. The Colorado trip was planned around the wedding of our good friend Josh Bandow and his wife Lauren. But, it also allowed us time to visit with one of my best friends and her family, and take in bit of scenery.
Doug, Chris (Horning), and I took the four kids to a river near the TINY town of Red Cliff, CO.
Of course, Nicholas found the biggest rocks possible to throw into the river.
The boys LOVED playing with chapstick - not something they get to do in a house with only one female.

The boys also enjoyed the pool at the Marriott. Nicholas is normally a bit nervous in deep water. Once he conquerred his fear, he really enjoyed playing with Doug.
Donovan has yet to be nervous in the water. He loves it!
The Loveland Pass - 11,990 feet.
Nicholas did great at 10,200 feet for the two days we were in Leadville (Home of Chris, Luke, Adele, and Rose), but 11,990 was a little much for him. We're not sure if it was the increased elevation, the cold temperature, or the winding mountain pass. While we didn't stay long at the top of the pass, it was really beautiful.
We had lunch on a hill near a little dirt road outside of Dillon, CO. Again, beautiful views... as well as some interesting characters, including one with hair that looked like the Statue of Liberty (I wish I had been quicker with our camera, his head didn't fit inside the pick-up truck he was riding in).
Josh and Lauren had a very nice wedding, and I'm not sure I've ever seen a more excited and happy bride and groom. It is really nice to see Josh so happy.
Nicholas was very excited to "dance". Unfortunately, the reception went a little later than either boy could handle and they fell asleep halfway through their first bedtime song...Their still catching up on their sleep...
