Donovan's first day of pre-school

Donovan started pre-school today. He was awake at 6am and very excited to go to school. His program is very play-based, and is the first time that Donovan has had a group of similar age kids to play with. Their are about 15 kids in his class, with three teachers. In addition to the three main teachers, his classroom has several additional helpers. This morning, Donovan jumped right in and immediately started playing with dinosaurs and talking to another little boy about Nicholas and Lily. His teacher said he did a great job, and he was happy and excited the whole time (except when they pulled out the nap mats). Fortunately I had planned to pick him up before rest time - and we'll do a little bit of mental preparation before he has to tackle rest time.

Lily, Donovan, and Nicholas - Lily must not have caught on that the boys were making funny faces.

Lily really missed playing with Donovan today. We made a "first day of school" card for him and as I was writing out Donovan, she was saying: "D...O... Donovan. You are loved so much." Earlier we were sitting out in the yard and I asked her if it was more fun to be at home alone or to play with Donovan and she told me it was more fun when Donovan was here, and then proceeded to say: "I love Donovan." Very sweet... : )
